If you remember David Dhawan’s 2005 comedy ‘Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya’ starring Salman Khan, Sushmita Sen and Katrina Kaif, you will definitely remember Bina Kak who gave a fabulous performance as Salman Khan’s hot-headed mother. That was Kak’s debut in Bollywood. Kak is the tourism minister of Rajasthan and is close to Salman Khan’s family.

When Katrina Kaif was in Rajasthan to ask blessings for her forthcoming film ‘New York’ at the dargah of Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chishti on June 23, 2009, she met Bina Kak at her residence in Jaipur.

With the aim of promoting her forthcoming movie, ‘Kaminey’, Priyanka Chopra is regularly using the social networking site ‘Twitter’ these days. It was Shahid Kapoor who introduced Priyanka to ‘Twitter’ advising her to use it in order to get in touch with her international fans and also to promote ‘Kaminey’. Neetu Chandra - The surprise package in ‘No Problem’?

Neetu Chandra has lately been in news more for her controversial photoshoots than for her roles in the films. Now, she has been signed for an important role in ‘No Problem’ directed by Annez Bazmi and produced by Anil Kapoor. The movie is a comedy and stars Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Bipasha Basu, Kangana Ranaut, Sushmita Sen and Paresh Rawal. Neetu will be paired opposite Sanjay Dutt for the first time.

Bazmee confirmed the news that Neetu Chandra had been signed on for an important role and added, “I cannot reveal anything about her role now because it’s too early, but yes, Neetu is going to be the surprise package in the film. She suited the role perfectly.”

Revealing more about the film, he said, “I am planning to start shooting the film next month in South Africa and it will be a 50-day long schedule. After that we will have one more schedule in Singapore and Bangkok.”

Salman Khan left Out of Katrina Birthday?

After last year's bad experience, Katrina Kaif has decided to celebrate her birthday with her family in London. The actress is looking forward to meeting her family, but didn't reveal whether beau Salman Khan will be with her or not.

Katrina will turn 25 on July 16 and this time the actress, who is said to be under a lot of external and internal pressure, is determined to make her birthday a happy, stress-free and comfortable occasion.

Katrina will take off for a rare full-family reunion in London this July, to coincide with her birthday. She doesn't confirm the birthday, but admits that she's planning a holiday with family in July.

"I've been burning the midnight oil to make myself free for my family. I'm exhausted and stressed. And I can't wait to go home. Though I've met parts of my family on every visit home all of us eight siblings have not been together in nine years... can you believe it! I really want to do this," Katrina, who has earned rave reviews for her performance in just released New York.

Katrina is the middle sister among the seven girls of the Kaif family. She has always been the apple of everyone’s eye and it was very traumatic for her to wrench herself away from the family cocoon in London and make a career on her own in Mumbai.

According to close friends, Katrina was petrified of the isolation in Mumbai. That's why when Salman Khan's family took her in their fold, she was indebted to them.

Last year, Salman created a major embarrassment for her by picking up a fight with Shah Rukh Khan.

Akshay-Kareena KAMBAKKHT ISHQ Sold Out!!

Heard this?? Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor starrer mega-budget film Kambakkht Ishq, due for a world wide theatrical release on July 3, is already a sold out.

The advance booking for the sleek flick opened on Sunday, but within an hour the entire block for the weekend was full and patrons could be seen disappointedly walking around the multiplexes, which are going to screen the movie from this Friday. Sajid Nadiadwala, who has produced the flick, is elated at the public response towards his sleek flick. The ace filmmaker was especially impressed with the serpentine queues outside multiplexes’ ticket windows, as that reminded him of the good times reminiscent of 1980s and 1990s, when cine buffs would come to the theatres for Amitabh Bachchan’s flicks in large numbers.

Sources say that Producer Sajid Nadiadwala is fully geared to take advantage of this euphoria amongst the viewers and is preparing to release the film on 2030 screens the world over on July 3. What it means that ‘Kambakkht Ishq’ will be releasing in about twenty percent more theatres than Aamir Khan’s super duper hit flick ‘Ghajini.’

All that translate to that if ‘Kambakkht Ishq’ collects at one theatre a paltry sum of Rs 5 lakhs, it comes out to crossing Rs 100 crore in the first week of the release itself, which is far more than any other bollywood pot boiler can even dream of. Sajid Nadiadwala fully understands the economics of releasing movies and is expected to take full advantage of the whole thing.

The industry watchers attribute the sold out status of ‘Kambakkht Ishq’ to its excellent promotion and big star cast. For instance, Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor are big entertainers in their own rights and can attract viewers. Add to it the hype created around ten kisses of Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor in the film.

Then add to it Kareena’s sizzling hot figure in bikini flashing all over the television screen and you have full masala to attract the hoi polloi. It may be recalled that Kareena Kapoor’s earlier film ‘Tashan’ had failed to make any impression at the box office, but Kareena’s size zero figure in the film created waves and became a craze with the girls.nother factor which helped ‘Kambakkht Ishq’ in becoming a sold out proposition even before its release, is the presence of former Bond girl Hollywood’s hot star Denise Richards. The beautiful star does not only have a kissing scene with Akshay Kumar but also praised the kissing technique of the handsome hunk. Then there are Hollywood hunks Sylvester Stallone and Brandon Routh too doing cameo in the film.

Another and perhaps more accurate theory doing the rounds in the industry is that the viewers are hungry after six week of strike by multiplexes and producers. During this period they could not see any good masala entertainer and so lapped up the offer from Sajid Nadiadwala’s stable.

In any case, Sajid Nadiadwala has an impeccable record in offering good entertainers( recall his earlier movies like Sunny Deol’s ‘Jeet’, Salman Khan’s ‘Judwaa’, and ‘Mujhse Shadi Karogi’, Akshay Kumar’s ‘Heyy Babyy’ etc, which were all good entertainers) to the masses and this factor, too, should have worked in favor of ‘Kambakkht Ishq’.

Priyanka Chopra has been dropped from 7 Days In Paris following her high salary demands, according to reports.

The actress reportedly refused to negotiate with producers on her fee to star alongside Imran Khan in the film.

A source told The Times of India: "This time, she was not so lucky. The producers would rather wait and sign someone else rather than pay such a huge sum."

Chopra recently secured a large salary for starring in Yash Raj Films's Impossible, opposite Uday Chopra.

However, her official spokesperson confirmed that 7 Days In Paris's producers were unable to meet her financial requirements.

"Priyanka has not been offered Gadhvi's film," they explained.

Bollywood super diva Deepika Padukone has dismissed rumours that her boyfriend actor Ranbir Kapoor’s mother Neetu Singh is upset with her.

‘I believe that if there was any truth in this, she (Neetu) would tell me herself and not through newspapers and media. I think she’s an extremely talented and mature person, so why would she tell the media and not speak with me directly?’ Deepika said on Zee News’ celebrity chat show ‘Kahiye Janab’. Deepika, who has been in relationship with Ranbir - son of Rishi Kapoor and Neetu - for almost a year now, teamed up with her beau in ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’. She said both of them are professionals when it comes to work.

‘We both are very professional. Sometimes I don’t come to know whether the film I’m offered is also offered to Ranbir. We don’t speak about our films that much because it would be extremely unprofessional. ‘We read scripts separately and meet directors separately too and this may be the reason that post ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ we haven’t done any film together,’ she said.

Girls bag top positions in SSC exams
Islamabad, June 30: The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) on Monday declared the results of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Part-II examinations, with girls excelling in both science and humanities groups by clinching the top positions.

Overall pass percentage remained 81.77 per cent for the examinations held in March-April this year. The pass percentage for regular and private students remained 91.63 and 41.98 per cent, respectively.

In science group, Aatiqa Sohail Khan of Fauji Foundation College for Girls, New Lalazar in Rawalpindi; and Misbah Zeb of Army Public School, Okara Cantonment, bagged the top position. Both students secured 1,007 marks out of the total 1,050 marks.

The second position was secured by Nasar Mubarak of PAF Public School Lower Topa, Murree; and Iman Akhtar of Army Public School, Iqbal Shaheed Road, Saddar Karachi Cantonment. Both secured 1,004 marks each.Similarly, the third position was shared by Komal Mushtaq of Fazaia Model Inter College, Mushaf Sargoda; and Seema Kanwal of Army Public School, Stadium Road Hamza camp Rawalpindi. Both obtained 1,002 marks.

In the humanities group, Komal Gilani of F.G. Girls High School Loi Bhir clinched the top position by securing 931 marks, followed by Maimuna Ahmad of F.G. Girls Model School G-6/1-3, Islamabad, who obtained 921 marks. Mehwish Bibi of F.G. Girls Model School G-11/2, Islamabad, stood third by securing 911 marks.

The overall percentage among girls appearing in science and humanitarian groups remained 96.2 and 83.11 per cent, respectively. Likewise, the percentage among boys in science and humanities groups remained 91.84 and 73.26 per cent, respectively.

A total of 47,124 students, both boys and girls appeared as regular candidates and 43,147 of them were declared successful. The number of private students was 11,745, but just 4,897 passed the examinations.

The FBISE announced that 54 cases of use of unfair means were reported this year. Fifty of these cases had been decided while the remaining four cases were being processed.

The FBISE advised the candidates whose results have been withheld for want of fee/eligibility to resolve discrepancies immediately to enable the office to declare their results.

The board has also announced that the supplementary examinations of will commence from August 25. It said the candidates, who have failed in four subjects in the first attempt, should reappear in all the subjects. The results are also available on the FBISE website . Dawn

Faisalabad: Students of the Government College University Faisalabad's bachelor of telecom engineering on Tuesday lifted their voice to demand recognition with the Pakistan Engineering Council.

The university administration, however, says the requirements for the PEC have been completed and a team is expected to visit the institute soon to give a go-ahead to the accreditation.

The students boycotted their classes and blocked traffic at main Imambargah, Narawala, Chiniot and Kutchery Bazaar chowks and demonstrated outside the press club.

The banners and placards they had held were inscribed with slogans highlighting their demand.

The students said the university had set June 30 as deadline for their discipline's accreditation with the PEC but the authorities failed to do so much to their disappointment.

They questioned the varsity administration's claim that they had fulfilled all requirements for the PEC recognition though, they said, the PEC website declared the course week.

They appealed to Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry to take suo motu notice of the situation and direct the PEC to recognise the department.

Dr Shahid Mehboob Rana, the vice chancellor, said the varsity had fulfilled the requirements by recruiting a professor, two deputy directors, two assistant professors, nine lecturers and two lab engineers. He said they would join the institution within two to three days.

"The university has also provided nearly 2,500 books to the department and formed a contemporary lab to meet the other PEC requirement," he said. Dawn

But the girl in New York connects deeply with me.Or do I connect with her?It’s symbiotic, I think,” she says.When she saw what synthesis of ‘actor’ and ‘character’ had been achieved she simply broke down.Remembering that evening, Katrina says, “It was a very private screening. Only members of the cast, our director, his wife and the producer were there. I’ve never been so impressed by any of my films. So far they’ve all been in the orbit of escapist entertainment. New York is my first realistic film. I’m proud of all my films.

But this is new chapter in my career.Katrina will be devoting the next two weeks solely to promoting the film. So far our producers Yash Raj Films haven’t allowed us to talk about New York. Even now I can’t talk much about it without giving away the plot. But I’m very proud of what we’ve done.

Health Comes First for Shahrukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan is in no mood to take any more chances with his health. His film, Ra 1 to be directed by Anubhav Sinha, will only go on the floors next year as Shah Rukh has not recovered fully from his shoulder injury. As a result, the film will roll in mid 2010 instead of September 2009. A source said, “SRK has been suffering because of his shoulder injury. He had injured himself on the sets of Dulha Mil Gaya a few months ago. After his surgery, SRK started shooting for Karan Johar’s My Name is Khan, which he will soon complete. However, he decided to temporarily put Ra 1 on hold as he is required to do some serious action sequences in the film.

SRK decided to push Ra 1 to 2010 after he recently went for a check-up in the US where he is currently shooting for Karan’s film. After the check-up, SRK felt the time is not right to do the action film as there is quite a high risk that his injury will aggravate if he doesn’t take it easy. Now, SRK has decided to first start Farah Khan’s film Happy New Year.This is the second time that Ra 1 has been put on hold. It was first supposed to go on the floors in February 2009 but was pushed to September due to SRK’s injury. The actor was so excited about the action film that he had planned to go on a strict diet to get in shape.

Shah Rukh plays a superhero in Ra 1, which is full of SFX and state-of-the-art gizmos just like Bond films. SRK was so excited about this science fiction film that he had even suggested the title. Director Anubhav Sinha patiently heard us out and promised to call back but he was later unavailable for comment.

I was supposed to get drunk and get up on a table and dance. I was to lose my balance and fall, and Saif was supposed to grab me and break my fall.

But he misjudged where I was going to fall, I lost my step and almost fell on the ground flat on my face! Fortunately, Saif managed to grab the end of my kurta and I didn’t hurt myself badly. It was a difficult scene, because I don’t drink at all so I had to imagine how it is to really get drunk!”

The then crazy young fan was shocked when Jackson, only months into their friendship, encouraged Terry to pleasure himself during one of their regular phone calls.

In 1993, Terry received a call from LA detectives after a young Jordan Chandler alleged in a police statement that he was abused at Jackson’s Neverland ranch.

Tamil actress Lakshmi Rai, who has been romantically linked with M.S. Dhoni, rubbishes reports that she flew down to Mumbai from here to console the Indian cricket skipper after the Indian team was ousted from the T20 World Cup. A Tamil daily had published the report.

“Though I was deeply upset by India’s exit from the T20 World Cup, I didn’t break down into tears as reported. Neither did I fly to Mumbai to meet Dhoni to talk to him and console him… it’s nothing but media’s figment of imagination. I just sent a consoling message to Dhoni and that’s all,” said the actress.

DNA confirms Shineys Rape Act

Well the truth is out now for everyone who were waiting to know weather Shiney was innocent or a rapist. The DNA report is out and confirms that Shiney Ahuja indeed raped his 19-year-old maid.

Shiney’s body only bore one abrasion, that on his right hand which Police say was due to the maid’s resistance towards him when he forced himself upon her.

Shiney will be under arrest till 2nd July and has been booked for raping, wrong restraint and threat to kill charges.

The movie tells the story of a wealthy zamindar and his beautiful wife. The zamindar is in habit of visiting brothels and kothas which leaves the wife lonely. Then there is a young man named Bhoot Nath who is hired as a servant to this zamindar. Bhootnath comes close to the lonely wife and both soon develop a platonic relationship. Then Bhootnath comes to know and feel his mistress’s loneliness and the life she is cursed to live.

Ranbir Kapoor & Konkona Sen in ‘Wake Up Sid’

Having a most unusual pair of Ranbir Kapoor and Konkona Sen Sharma in the lead roles Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions’ forthcoming venture ‘Wake Up Sid’ seems to awake much enthusiasm among the cinelovers. The movie is being directed by debutante Ayaan Mukherjee, who earlier was assistant director of Ashutosh Gowariker in ‘Swades’ and Karan Johar in ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’.

Scheduled to release on October 2, 2009, the movie is based on the story of a handsome young boy (Ranbir Kapoor) who falls for an older and simple writer woman (Konkona Sen Sharma).Anupam Kher will be seen as father of Ranbir Kapoor.

Bipasha Refuses to Hollywood Star's Demand

Bipasha Basu has recently signed an international project with Hollywood star Billy Zane. But she is not willing to bend down to anyone’s demands.

She has made it clear that she is not going to go out of her way to keep the makers of the film happy. And the makers of the film just tasted one such experience.

A photo shoot with the main leads of the film had been planned and they were to even do a look test together. The shoot had been planned in Los Angeles because Billy Zane did not want to to India just for a photo shoot.

The producers felt they could convince Bips easily to fly down to LA. But Bipasha refused.

Her argument was that if the film was to be shot in India and Zane had signed the film, then it should not be a great deal for him to come to India for the shoot.

Since it is a joint venture, Bipasha wanted to assert her stand as well. The producers have not managed to convince Billy yet, but Bips is not relenting too. Let’s see who gives in first.

Katrina Kaif in a Street Fight!!

Katrina Kaif was scared to death while shooting for her film New York in Philadelphia. A little birdie revealed that right after spending some nice food time, when the actress stepped out of a restaurant on to the streets of the city, she was caught bang in the middle of a mad scene. People were jumping up and down on top of the cars and smashing beer bottles.
Well as found out, it was not really a street fight at all.And our pretty babe was quite safe. It so happened that US had just won the World Cup. Phew! Our girl heaved a sigh of relief. In fact the cops were party to the ongoing celebrations on the street.

Priyanka Thrown Out of Dhoom Director Film!!

Priyanka Chopra, the sizzling hot sexy bombshell who was approached by Dhoom director Sanjay Gadhvi for his upcoming flick 7 Days In Paris, has been thrown out of the project due to her outrageous demand of Rs 5 crore for working in the film.

Sources say that initially the producers and director Sanjay Gadhvi were taken aback at the beautiful lass’ demand but later tried to reason it out to some reasonable level. However, Piggy Chops was adamant on getting the full amount of Rs 5 crore if she was wanted in the film. Finally, Sanjay Gadhvi, who had directed the super duper hit film ‘Dhoom’ with Hrithik and Aishwarya for Yashraj, decided to dump Priyanka and wait for some other bollywood babe to work in the film.

One theory that is doing rounds in the industry about reasons Priyanka Chopra demanded such a huge amount is that she thought she was doing a favor by working opposite Imran Khan in ‘7 Days in Paris’. Sources say that Priyanka’s reasoning was simple that Imran Khan might have been successful in ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’, but his ‘Kidnap’ with Sanjay Gadhvi had bombed at the box office, and so the upcoming film will largely depend on her craze at the box office, and hence the demand was justified.

Another theory in this regard has to do with Priyanka Chopra’s upcoming mega- budget Yashraj flick ‘Pyar Impossible’. Priyanka has been paired in the film with Uday Chopra (Yash Chopra’s son) and to compensate this, Yashraj Films paid the oomph queen a sum of Rs 3 crore, which is great, considering the fact that Yashraj never pays handsomely to its stars.

Priyanka Chopra wanted the same Yashraj yardstick to apply in the case of Sanjay Gadhvi’s flick ‘7 Days in Paris’ and so demanded her price to work with a lesser star like Imran Khan. However, in this case director Sanjay Gadhvi and producers thought otherwise and threw Priyanka out of the project.It may be recalled that Priyanka Chopra’s latest films like ‘Dostana’, ‘Fashion’ etc, which proved to be super successful at the box office, have put her on a high pedestal, and hence her demand for Rs 5 crore was not fully unjustified (at least Priyanka thinks so).

However, as ‘7 Days in Paris’ is scheduled to go on the floors by next month, director Sanjay Gadhvi has already initiated talks with other bollywood hot babes. Sources reveal that Gadhvi is already in advanced stage of talks with southern sensation Asin, who had made her bollywood debut opposite Aamir Khan in ‘Ghajni’.

There is also talk that Imran Khan’s heroine Genelia D’Souza from his hit film ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’ may be roped in, if talks with Asin fail to come to some positive conclusion.

However, director Sanjay Gadhvi and Priyanka Chopra preferred to keep mum on the issue and remained unavailable for comment.

Kareena, Katrina Have Sexy Bodies: Akshay

Akshay Kumar has worked with both Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif in several films, but can't decide who is better. The action king says both are "wonderful actresses" and have "sexy bodies".

"Both Kareena and Katrina are really good but who is the better among them depends on their roles in the films. Otherwise, both of them have sexy bodies and are absolutely wonderful actresses," said Akshay when asked to choose his favourite of the two.

Akshay has done four films with Katrina including Namastey London and Singh Is Kinng, while he has worked with Kareena in five that include hits Ajnabee and Aitraaz. The two are set to scorch the screen once again in their upcoming action-cum-romantic drama Kambakkht Ishq, which releases this coming Friday.

"In Kambakkht Ishq, Kareena has performed very well. Her character required to answer back at me and be strong and she has portrayed it in a powerful, yet lovable way. On the other hand, even Katrina was really good in Namastey London. So it's not really about my choice... it all depends on their roles," the actor said.

Akshay, who has spent more than 18 years in the Hindi film industry, says acting with a new league of actresses is a learning experience.

"As a senior actor, I don't always have to give out tips to the younger ones. In fact, I feel I can learn a lot from the younger generation because they have new ways of acting and a different approach to work.

"I cannot particularly point out what I have learnt from them (Kareena and Katrina) yet, but yes, working with them was a learning experience," said the actor, who has also teamed up with Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and Ayesha Takia.

Akshay plays a Hollywood stuntman in Kambakkht Ishq, which also boasts of big Hollywood names like Sylvester Stallone, Denise Richards and Brandon Routh - working with whom has been a "dream come true" for the actor.

In the film, Akshay has done what he is best at - action and daredevilry - something that had taken a backseat in his career for a while.

"I decided to stop doing stunts till Aarav (son) turns at least six. Now I'm back at it again. In Blue, which is an action thriller, I have done some death-defying stunts like the one where I had to swim 150 feet underwater with 30-40 sharks. But I will talk about it sometime later," he said.

At the moment, the 41-year-old actor is pinning hopes on Sajid Nadiadwala's Kambakkht Ishq to bail him out after his much-publicised films Chandni Chowk To China and 8X10 Tasveer fizzled out at the box office.

"I'm expecting great response for this film. Though I had worked very hard in Chandni Chowk... , the response didn't turn out to be as expected. Some people and critics didn't like it and 8X10 Tasveer was more like an art film, which has a niche market in India. Kambakkht Ishq is a complete entertainer and I hope the audience appreciates it," he said.
