Designing a Royal House for Kinshuk

Ranvir of Bidaai, Kinshuk Mahajan has recently taken a new house and its being designed by his co-star Angad Hasija. Not many people know that Angad has been an interior decorator before becoming an actor.

“I am now getting back to what I have been doing before becoming an actor, Interior Decoration. I am designing Kinshuk’s house,” says Angad

Elaborating on the designing the house the actor adds, “I am trying to give the house a royal look. The way you see in 5 stars, bit of English glance is what I have been planning. Till now we have just completed with the designer curtains and wall painting. There is lot of more areas to be explored but the time doesn’t permit us to go further.”

“We are shooting back to back. The day I get off, Kinshuk is working and it’s vice versa. We are trying to catch up together and deciding on how to go about the designing of the house,” he quips.

Beside that Angad him self loves painting like Alekh. “Yes I have done many paintings but today due to the hectic shooting schedule I don’t get much time. I try and catch up with my passion during the shoots only,” he chirps.

Anupam Kher to Host Saaransh

Actor Anupam Kher will be hosting the premiere of his first film as an actor, Mahesh Bhatt directed, Saaransh at BIG Cinemas Metro on Sunday 24th May, 2009 in association with his acting school ‘Actor Prepares’ and ‘Metro BIG Cinemas’.

Saaransh will be completing 25 years on May 24th. Back then it was released in Metro theatre now re-branded as Metro BIG Cinemas. Anupam Kher will relive this moment with his co stars from the film Rohini Hattangadi and Soni Razdan and director Mahesh Bhatt, who will also be present at the premiere along with many friends from the industry.

Getting nostalgic Anupam Kher says, “On 25th May 1984 my first film Saaransh released. I was a new comer. Now, 25 years later, I still feel like a new comer. To celebrate my highs and lows of these years, I thought it would be great to relive the moments and the audience reaction for my first film Saaransh. In 1984, the film released in Metro, so we thought it would be nice to premiere it here only.”

Edited that time by today’s popular filmmaker, David Dhawan Saaransh had released on 25th May, 1984. Back then, the film’s premiere could not be organized due to unforeseen circumstances. The film was India’s official entry to the Oscars in 1984. Saaransh established Anupam Kher as a great actor. Ironically, Anupam played a stubborn old man in his very first movie. Saaransh is a story of an old couple living in Bombay, coming to terms with the death of their only son, who is killed in a mugging incident in New York. The most touching and memorable moment in the movie is when Anupam Kher’s character haggles with the customs officials to get his son’s ashes. -Smapurn Media

Shaleen and Daljit still going ‘Strong’

Despite rumours floating around on Shaleen’s alleged link-up with a TV actress, the actor is very much with his longtime girlfriend Daljeet in a rock solid relationship. The couple who rose to fame after winning Nach Baliye season 4, have been in love for more than two and half years. In fact, marriage is not very far with both their parents being aware of and giving their blessings to the couple.

We got in touch with the couple to know their side of the story and this is what we learnt - “All I have to say is that the allegation reads out that it is rumored…. so that is exactly what it is – it is a rumour and all rumours die a natural death! We are very much in love and are happy to be together” says Daljeet. And Shaleen immediately quips, “I want to meet that girl. Where is she? And who knows may be I’ll end up inviting her for our wedding”

Bollywood Stars to Play Cricket

Cancer Patients Aid Association (CPAA) at Hotel Taj Lands End on Saturday May 23rd evening announced the line up of events for celebrating World No Tobacco day in association with Bollywood stars, World Health Organisation (WHO) and The Ministry of Health and Welfare.

Present at the event were Bollywood personalities - Sohail Khan, Aftab Shivdasani, Milind Soman, Neetu Chandra, Raima Sen, Dr. Anuj Saxena, Arjan Bajwa, Bappi Lahiri, Shailendra Singh of Percept Pictures along with cricketer Vinod Kambli. Also present were CPAA, WHO and the Ministry officials comprising of Mr. Y.K. Sapru, P.S. Pasricha and D.J. Habayeb.

It was announced that Bollywood n Television stars would play against Mumbai city doctors a special cricket match on Monday May 25th at the Mumbai Police Gymkhana at Marine Lines, Mumbai at 4 pm. While the Bollywood stars interacted with the media about the same, they also participated in a mock holi and threw tobacco based products in it.

It was announced that special guests of honour at the match are going to be Farah Khan and actor-producer Dr. Anuj Saxena, who will felicitate the film personalities and handover voice boxes (prosthesis) to cancer patients who have lost their voices due to the disease. The celebrities will also be participating in the charity event will be Sohail Khan, Zayed Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, Suniel Shetty, Javed Jaffery, Arjan Bajwa, Chetan Hansraj, Aman Verma, Cyrus Broacha, Milind Soman, Vinod Kambli, Bakhtiyar Irani and many more. Through the match, the institutes hope to raise funds as well as spread awareness about cancer.

Salman after Winning Dance India

Dance India Dance gets its winner with Mohammad Salman being crowned the Sunehri Taqdeer ki Topi. The participant from Remo ke Rangeelay has made his mentor proud. We chit chat with the lad as he talks about the success.

How do you feel?
On top of the world. I want to thank God and my parents. I am where I am only due Remo Sir, He was the best thing that could have happened to me.

What were the thoughts going on in your mind in the final moments before your name was announced?
I just told God that I thank you for what you have given me.

Which was your toughest dance step?
All were equally tough but the fire step could have turned into a disaster I might have lost my eyesight. You know how things go wrong despite all precautions.

According to you which was your best dance?
My best is yet to come. What you saw in DID were only glimpses of what I can do. Having said I like my Tu Hi Rai number and Chow dance.

Which is your particular fort, then?
I really don’t know what my forte is, sometimes mentors would say you rock in Salsa and at other time they exclaimed that you excel in Latin. All I can say is that I want to be choreographer’s dream. But I want to say that that I have not yet scratched the surface. As far learning is concerned I will keep up picking new things till I die.

Were you always a dancer?
My mom says I would shake to numbers even in the pram. I gave my first performance when I was 2 at a family occasion dancing to Ek Do Teen.

You come from Bangalore, a region not very popular with Hindi channel, yet you won?
If you remember I never begged for votes. I just asked for blessings. I only believe in hard work. I did not cry on stage giving somebody a chance to say that I was garnering sympathy votes. I want to compete and win fair and square.

50 lac prize booty is a big amount?
I honesty have not thought about that. Right from day one I only concentrated on my dance Like Arjun my aim was only at being the best dancer. I have really worked hard. I have given my blood and sweat for this purpose. I even landed in hospital but was back on stage as soon as I discharged. My only aim was to get better with every passing round.

What next?
I am open to all kinds of offers.

Most reality winners disappear after a few months?
See DID have given me a platform and now it’s up to me to prove myself.

Best Bollywood dancer?
Undoubtedly, Hrithik Roshan.

Aalim Hakim Clubs Fitness

Aalim Hakim, Raj Rao and Nicholas of True Fitness hosted a party for the Celebrity hair stylist and Bollywood’s favourite make over guru Aalim who launched his latest ‘Express salon’ within the largest fitness club, True Fitness in the suburbs on Friday night.

It wouldn’t be wrong to say that whatever he does, Aalim surely does it with panache! And that’s why his parties never seem to be like anything lesser than a movie premiere by itself with the entire brigade of Bollywood stars and media galore, while the shutterbugs have a field day. This time too, it was more than impressive!

Riteish Deshmukh who was one of the earliest to walk in got a quick hair styling done at the salon while Emraan Hashmi walked in dressed in casuals.

But the man who made the night special was our very own Salman Khan who was greeted with a roar of delight from the crowd. He made a solo entry much before brother Arbaaz Khan arrived with Sanjay Kapoor. Dressed in a black shirt, gold studded belt and hair slid back into a pony tail, we couldn’t help notice Sallu’s style statement. Although his eyes looked tired, never did the charming and mischievous smile leave his face even for a moment. Quickly having checked out the salon and posing for the shutterbugs, he made a quick getaway leaving the media hungry for more.

But soon to pep them was Saif Ali Khan who strode in alone, dressed in a crisp pink shirt and looking a million bucks (as always?!) Saif too stayed for a while but made his way out faster than we expected. But a little birdie tells us that it was because his lady love Kareena Kapoor was waiting for him in the car!

All the guests were personally escorted by Aalim who took them through the entire salon, the ‘magnificent’ fitness club, yoga center and spa along with an exceptionally co-operating team from the club and salon!

Some of the other guests included Emran Hashmi, Suniel Shetty, Tusshar Kapoor, Celina Jaitley, Mithun Chakraborthy, Sonu Sood, Subhash Ghi, Paritosh Painter, Vishal Bharadwaj, Imtiaz Ali, choreographer Bosco, Chunkey Pandey, Kamaal Khan (who entered in his signature bright shades, red this time),Raza Murad with son, Brinda PArekh, Zulfi Sayed, Shawar Ali, Jagdish Mali, Vatsal Sheth, A.D Singh, Shibani Kashyap, Akshay Kapoor, Bhavna Pani, chef Sanjeev Kapoor and many more.

With our bolywood milling around around, our tv stars were not far behind. Dipsshikha was seen showing off her new her tattoo done by Aalim himself. Balwinder Singh Suri, Delnaaz with the Paul brothers, Rohit Roy, Karan Mehra, Siddharth Kannan, Saadiya Siddiqui, Chitrapama Bannerjee were there too.

The Indian starters made their way through pina coladas, while it was Thai cuisine for main course. Finally, the entire team celebrated the launch of the new salon, with Aalim cutting a cake!

“This is my third salon in the city and having it as a part of the gym this time is a novel and exciting concept. I have taken it a step further by concentrating on wellness and not just styling. This place is like a complete package to a blissful life. I believe it’s going to be an overall experience. ” says Aalim.

Needless to say all the roads did lead to Andheri on Friday night, while the B-Town brigade turned up in full force to congratulate their favourite scissor man this time too!

Marriage has Made me Responsible

Singer Kailash Kher, who tied the nuptial knot with mass communication student Sheetal Bhan a few months ago, says marriage has made him a responsible man.

"Married life is treating me very nicely. I'm happy. I've become responsible because now I know that I have to reach back home on time. It's not like when I used to be a bachelor. Like every phase in life, I'm enjoying this phase of my life too," said the 32-year-old, who got married in February.

Akshay Kumar’s Mantra for Surviving

While most work in the film industry has come to a standstill because of the current standoff between producers and multiplex owners Akshay Kumar is working harder than ever before.

He shot for two films Priyadarshan’s Dan Dana Dan and Vipul Shah’s Action Replay back-to-back in April and May and now he proceeds to shoot for buddy Sajid Khan’s Houseful in July.

While many of his colleagues gave taken off for holidays Akshay has decided to work harder than before during this dry period. “We all should get together to create a bank of work to be released in a tumble of films once the film is released. In fact that’s what I’m doing.”

Akshay follows a Japanese philosophy on work ethics. “When there was a strike in a shoe factory in Japanese instead of staying home, all the workers got together and manufactured only shoes for the left foot. Then when the strike was over the manufactured shoes for the right foot.”

Even as Akshay gets busier than ever he has decided not to do any off-beat films at the moment.The Tasveer 8 x 10 experience and its shockingly low opening has left him stunned.

“There’re too much financial stakes in my films.I have to be cautious,” he says.

It’s third-time lucky for Akki.

Vipul Shah was keen to cast Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Akshay together in Waqt and Namaste London.

“But because of Aishwarya’s problems with the dates the films went to Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif,respectively. And look at what the films did to the careers of those actresses! This time Vipul and Akshay were determined to get their first choice for the heroine’s role,” says a source.

And it surely seems like the right choice.

There’s magic in the air. Akshay and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are shooting in Karjat together.

And the camaraderie is super-congenial. Akshay has been keen to work with Aishwarya for a long time. He earlier did Raj Kumar Santoshi’s Khakee with. But there she played the anti-heroine.

Farah Khan, a Dotting Mom

Farah Khan who is currently judging a show on Sony, Entertainment Ke Kuch Bhi Karega has been very busy with her shoot. The mommy doesn’t get enough time to spend with her toddlers.

“Farah is busy shooting for the show as it’s a daily. There are lots of participants thus it takes a long time due to which she is not able to spend much time with them,” says the source.

The kids do accompany her on the sets many a time. “The shoot for the show is going on in Yash Raj studio. Thus all three of them patiently wait for their mommy to come. During the break Farah spends quality time with them,” adds the source.

Alongside Farah is on strict diet so she brings home made food on the sets. “Farah is not allowed to eat outside thus she brings ghar ka khana and for everyone. Annu Malik, Mona Singh and Vishal all sits in the Farah’s makeup room and have lunch together,” concludes the source.

Dispute between Bollywood Producers

It is expected that the current standoff between Bollywood producers, distributors and multiplex owners over the revenue sharing will come to an end by June 12. Because of the dispute between two parties, Bollywood did not see any big budget release over the last two months. No doubt, many multiplex owners tried to avoid losses by showing Hollywood films, while low-budget movies featuring lesser known stars made an unsuccessful attempt to grab the market.

Both parties met on a number of occasions over the last two months, but no solution was found yet. However, it has been reported that a number of well-known production houses are ready to release their big budget films on 12 June and it is expected that the current standoff will be ended before June 12. No doubt, it is good news for the Bollywood moviegoers who were missing Bollywood films in the multiplexes for two months.
