Pakistanis fully back security forces: presidential spokeswoman

The people of Pakistan and their elected representative fully back the security forces conducting an operation against the Taliban and Al Qaeda in NWFP, presidential spokeswoman Farahnaz Ispahani has said. According to a statement issued on Saturday, Farahnaz said Pakistan’s security forces were involved in a fight that would decide the future of Pakistan. “It is a battle for a modern, democratic, progressive and pluralistic Pakistan.” She said that elected representatives were fully aware of the effort being put in by the Pakistan Army in the war on terror, and “they will support the military operation through all possible means”. She said the government was committed to ridding the country of terrorism. She hoped that the president’s visit to the US would help the administration and opinion makers in Washington understand Pakistanis’ concerns.
